January 3. 2010
The Year of Tiger arrived.
In Chinese iconography, tigers are used to stand for the cardinal directions:
White Tiger represents the earth, the West and so, the afterlife.
Blue Tiger represents the East, fertility and vegetation.
Red Tiger represents the South and fire.
Black Tiger represents the North and winter.
Yellow Tiger represents the sun at the center.
Among the 12 animals of the Chinese calendar, the tiger is not only noted for strength but also for courage and perseverance. In Japan, the tiger is said to live a thousand years and was one of the emblems of the samurai.
After very busy and rather hard year for me I very much welcome new one, and vow to bring my life to more balance to have time for abandoned pursuits.
The blog sharing was put on the bottom of my list. I want to restore missed pages and write new ones periodically.
Wishing you all happy, healthy and joyful 2010 Year!
