Eido Roshi 75 years old October 1, 2007 This photo was made by Ralf Hiemisch, Berlin, Germany. I copied it from a bookmark we all received at Celebrations of Roshi’s Birthday. Bright light and deep shadows come together…This portrait of my teacher perfectly expresses his being. And weather bright light creates deep shadows or attracts deep shadows, both seems to describe well Dai Bosatsu Zendo during the years I have been coming there… I remember some years ago, when I came up with this sentence my mind was in peace. Couple days ago I came back from my last Golden Wind Sesshin. It was for me very powerful and uncanny. I would like to share some of my experience perhaps in three essays: “Bright Light, deep shadows”, “Power of the Way” and “Celebrations”. Since I am leaving for Poland in a few days, I write later. For now just: Look!
